Puttin' on the Ritz

Puttin' on the Ritz opened October 17, 2008 to an almost sold out house. Robert Ray and company put on a very entertaining mix of songs by Irving Berlin. Come to Footlight to be thoroughly entertained and forget the troubles and worries of today. Along with fantastic music, signing, dancing and costumes you will learn about Irving Berlin's life and his impact on American Music. The show runs through November 2, 2008 and is sponsored by the Hat Ladies.

I enjoyed this energetic show, which features professional level singing and dancing.
The staging and many changes of costumes are consistent with the "glitz" of the times and the musicals from which many of these songs come. This staging adds, properly, to the total performance.
As a former teacher of drama, I'm generally not a big fan of musical revues. However, this one has more than "glitz" and "fun" because of its high quality, its variety of emotions, and the history provided of Berlin's life and times.
